Behind the Brand
Our Story
Hi friends, I’m Ava — the heart behind Slow Motion.
The idea for this brand came to life during the pandemic while I was experiencing the liberation of working remotely for the first time. After more than a decade in the corporate fashion world, my soul began craving something deeper — total freedom, creativity, and authenticity. In 2023, I took a leap of faith, moving from California to Bali to rediscover myself and create something that felt truly aligned. Slow Motion was born from that transformation — a vision of clothing that moves with you and mirrors the rhythm of island living.
Style, like life, can’t be forced — it breathes with you, evolves with you, and becomes part of your story. Inspired by leaving it all behind, chasing the sun and sea, and the raw beauty of nature, this collection is made for feeling and being — not just wearing.
Each piece is consciously handcrafted in small batches here in Bali by talented and spirited local artisans. We honor the slow process — working with natural fibers, vintage batik fabrics, and traditional handcrafting techniques that carry the soul of this island. Accessories and trims are made from raw, natural materials, infusing every creation with the energy of the land. These pieces are high-vibrational, high-quality, and deeply intentional — filled with love and reverence.
I’m endlessly grateful for the people of Bali and the abundance of this land. Every order ships directly from us to you, emblazoned with its magic. May you wear these pieces with sunlight in your eyes and bliss in your heart — and may they remind you to move through life's most glorious moments, in Slow Motion.
Thank you for being here xx
Honoring the past, reimagining for the present
Cherishing Balinese Culture
Breathing new life into vintage one of a kind batik fabrics. Each batik sarong tells a story of Balinese artistry and spirit. Handcrafted using ancient wax-resist dyeing techniques, these fabrics carry deep cultural meaning — symbols of beauty, balance, and devotion. Every pattern reflects the island’s harmony with nature and the divine, celebrating craftsmanship that is both timeless and sacred.
Our Values
Conscious Consumers
Yes — creating products contributes to material consumption, but special care is taken to ensure each piece is made with intention and respect for our planet. Every design is produced thoughtfully, with resources treasured and waste minimized wherever possible.
Plastic bags, stickers, paper tags, and cards have been completely avoided. Most apparel and accessories are made from 100% natural materials, and stock fabrics sourced locally in Indonesia are used to reduce the environmental impact of new production and shipping. Vintage and traditional textiles celebrate Indonesian craftsmanship while empowering local culture on an international scale. Production is carried out by small, family-owned tailors here in Bali, with select pieces made entirely by hand.
My commitment to operating a low-impact, environmentally conscious business is ongoing — with continuous effort and care to improve. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with suggestions or feedback.
